This was a drawing I've long wanted to do. I rather enjoy Mad Hatter as a love-to-hate-him type of villain in Batman comics. He's just so disgusting when he's done right. I personally point to the book "Arkham Asylum: A Serious House On Serious Earth" as my favorite version of him. In that book, on top of his usual psychological profile (a paranoid schizophrenic with obsessive-compulsive disorder and serious delusions), he is described as being a pedophile, which I think is exactly where the character should be. The fact that this has been subsequently ignored by writers for the comics is criminal in my opinion. Yes, it is rather uncomfortable for him to be a pedophile as it grounds the character in reality, but that's the point of Batman villains: they should seem like characters from a heightened reality. Sure, you get the occasional Poison Ivy, but she's balanced out by Two-Face. And even though Mad Hatter may have a sad past, I can't help but think that his present shouldn't be so pitiable. I think he's absolutely perfect as a pedophile, as gross as that may be.
